McLouth Signs Long-Term Deal

Nate McLouth signed a long-term deal (through all three arbitration years) with a club option for his first year of free agency. Also, Charlie at Bucs Dugout points out that maybe, just maybe even if the Pirates haven't greatly improved, everyone around them has gone down a notch.

I'm a hopeless optimist so I'm going to take the bait and bask in the thought that all seems right with the world. That is until position players hit the field in bradenton for their first practice. Then we get reminded how woefully outmatched we will be in nearly every game this year.

I wonder if the attendance this season will drop to the point that the Nuttings will start to complain aloud. If so, I would expect to see a major backlash. It t is just so difficult to support an organization that it seems has done nothing right for so long. It breaks my heart because baseball is my true love.

Such depressing conversation on the first day of camp :-(.

My true love is baseball as well. In fact, I just made flight arrangements to come home for opening day.

You have a point though. I believe this is the problem with PNC Park. PNC Park is designed to engineer profits even when attendance sucks. I'm actually not sure attendance hasn't already bottomed out.

Burgher Jon, have you ever gone to spring training? I'll bet you have, but if not, you'd love it. I've been down there many times and it's the greatest vacation possible.
